Inlet Area Community Task Force
Strengthening Community by Educating and Engaging Community Members
What We Do
-
Food Security
Our teaching garden (both indoors and outdoors) helps teach community members of all ages the skills to provide vegetables and mushrooms for themselves. Garden plots allow community members to put these growing skills to work! Our weekly farm stand connects locals to locally produced farm goods all year long.
-
Clean Energy/ Climate Adaptation
We demonstrate, educate and ultimately promote technologies that will help community members adapt cleaner, more efficient and more consistent sources of power and HVAC. We aid the Town of Inlet in the ongoing Clean Energy Community and Climate Smart Communities program. We work with local businesses to upgrade and improve their buildings.
-
Inlet Community School Placemaking
The schoolbuilding is a valuable asset to our community and we intend to maximize its services to the community.
A free community wi-fi workspace.
A classroom learning space for free education
A gathering space for families
-
Local Project Support
The IACTF uses our capacity as a not-for-profit to help raise funds for other local community projects. These include efforts such as plans for community murals and support for master plans/park plans for Fern and Arrowhead.
-
Local Product Production
We aim to educate around locally produced goods. From traditional homesteading skills like canning and knitting to forest products like maple syrup and timber, the IACTF will continue to teach quintessential Adirondack skills.
-
Local Program Support
IACTF uses its not-for-profit status to partner with other local organizations to aid their fundraising. These local organizations host ongoing programs we deem highly essential to our local families such as the Inlet Youth Commission and the Inlet Mighty Loons.
The Inlet Area Community Task Force (IACTF) is a 501c3 not-for-profit organization that is dedicated to the children and families of Inlet, Eagle Bay, Raquette Lake and other surrounding hamlets of the area. Officially incorporated in 2022, the organization works closely with the Inlet Common School (ICS) on a wide variety of local efforts aimed at strengthening our community through engagement and education.
